ForeScout Adds AWS Support to IoT Security Platform

Network security firm ForeScout is extending its platform, designed to protect Internet of Things (IoT) devices, to the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud.

The San Jose, Calif.-based company announced the added AWS support on Thursday, touting it as an agentless, "single-pane-of-glass" solution that gives organizations greater visibility over their AWS deployments, as well as the ever-expanding spectrum of devices that tap into their environments.

ForeScout's flagship product, CounterACT, is optimized to protect both corporate-issued and "non-traditional" devices. This is critical to meet the needs of modern organizations, ForeScout argued, which nowadays must cater to a rapidly growing and changing category of endpoint devices, spurred by the popularity of BYOD and IoT.

"Today's enterprises are shifting to the cloud, and security silos are being created by the separate teams managing the campus to cloud deployments. This can make it difficult for the enterprise to gain maximum visibility and control into their workloads -- something that is only expected to become more critical given the proliferation of IP-connected devices," said ForeScout CEO Michael DeCesare in a statement. "ForeScout gives enterprises visibility across their network environment to provide a level of universal access and eliminate the need for a fragmented approach."

Immediately available, ForeScout's AWS-compatible solution lets companies create a single policy to apply to their entire network, the company said. The solution is ideal for companies with public and hybrid cloud assets.
