AWS CloudWatch adds Insights for AI Coding Agents
Amazon Web Services has introduced CloudWatch Coding agent insights, a new capability that gives AI coding agents access to operational data from Amazon CloudWatch to support application diagnostics and remediation. Coding Agent Insights integrates with Claude apps gateway for AWS to collect telemetry from Claude Code without additional instrumentation and can support GitHub Copilot and Codex as well. Coding agent insights is built on OpenTelemetry metrics emitted by your coding agents and presents them alongside your existing CloudWatch operational data.
The feature allows compatible coding agents to retrieve metrics, logs and other observability data from CloudWatch, enabling them to investigate application performance issues and provide recommendations based on real-time operational information. By incorporating production telemetry into AI-assisted development workflows, the service is intended to help developers diagnose incidents more quickly without manually navigating multiple monitoring tools.
The company said the capability integrates with AI coding assistants that support AWS development workflows, providing developers with additional context when troubleshooting cloud-native applications and services. CloudWatch coding agent insights is available in all AWS commercial regions except Middle East (UAE), Middle East (Bahrain), and Israel (Tel Aviv).
