AWS Simplifies OpenSearch Dashboard Upgrades with One-Click Migration Tool

Amazon Web Services has introduced one-click dashboard migration for Amazon OpenSearch Service, a feature designed to simplify upgrades to the latest OpenSearch Dashboards experience. With this launch, the multiple tenants and thousands of saved objects created in legacy OpenSearch Dashboards become reusable in OpenSearch UI applications, reducing the operational complexity of moving between interfaces.

The capability automates the migration of dashboards, visualizations and related saved objects, reducing the manual work typically required when moving between dashboard versions. The feature is intended to help organizations adopt newer dashboard capabilities while minimizing disruption to analytics workflows.  The mechanism works for OpenSearch Dashboards created under Amazon OpenSearch Service domains and serverless collections.

According to AWS, the migration process is integrated into the OpenSearch Service management experience, allowing administrators to initiate upgrades with minimal configuration and verify the results before making the updated dashboards available to users. The company said the automated approach can help reduce compatibility issues and streamline maintenance for managed OpenSearch deployments. This feature is available in all AWS Regions where OpenSearch UI is available.
