AWS Adds Log Analytics Enhancements to Amazon CloudWatch
Amazon Web Services has introduced new log analytics capabilities for Amazon CloudWatch, expanding the ways users can search, transform and analyze operational data. The update adds a range of query functions and commands designed to simplify log investigation, including tools for string manipulation, data parsing, encoding and decoding, and geographic calculations.
The update offers a unified console experience that brings together CloudWatch Logs Insights for querying and analyzing log data, Live Tail for real-time log streaming and Contributor Insights for identifying top contributors. Customers can execute multiple queries in different tabs and use all existing Logs Insights features such as patterns, saved queries with parameters, facets for interactive log exploration, natural language query generation and visualizations.
The enhancements are intended to help teams extract insights from logs without relying on external analytics tools. New capabilities include support for parsing additional log formats, expanding nested data structures and automatically surfacing relevant fields in large datasets. Log Analytics is available in all commercial AWS Regions.
