Deloitte Forming AWS Cloud Practice Focusing on SAP HANA
Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Ltd. today announced it's forming a new Amazon Web Services Inc. (AWS) cloud practice to provide consultancy services for enterprises seeking to transform their operations, with a focus on SAP HANA technologies.
SAP HANA is an in-memory computing and real-time analytics platform, with components such as SAP BW/4HANA (a data warehouse) and SAP S/4HANA (an enterprise resource management suite with ERP capabilities).
The new AWS cloud practice will specialize in analytics, enterprise applications such as SAP's ERP offerings and front- and back-end office systems.
"A key focus of our AWS collaboration is to accelerate clients' digital core transformation through SAP S/4HANA to modernize their ERP technology and de-risk cloud migrations," said Craig Hodgetts, national managing principal, technology, Deloitte Consulting LLP.
On the data side, Hodgetts said Deloitte will provide 20 pre-configured analytics solutions focusing on specific industries, leveraging AWS services and the SAP HANA platform.
Potential benefits of the collaboration, Deloitte said, include digital core transformations via the SAP data warehouse and ERP components, which can take advantage of AWS services such as memory-optimized Amazon EC2 X1 instances.
Also, the consulting giant said, helping organizations migrate to their enterprise apps and data to the AWS cloud will free them from having to own and manage their own IT infrastructure.
As part of the collaboration, Deloitte said its member firms will be able to leverage the AWS cloud to create new solutions for customers and provide Deloitte services.
Deloitte consultants provide audit, consulting, tax and advisory services to thousands of companies around the world. The consultancy is already an AWS partner specializing in cloud provider (strategy and transformation) and cloud subscriber (advisory and implementation) services, along with Deloitte-as-a-Service offerings. /Deloitte is also an SAP global services partner.
