AWS Adds Amazon DocumentDB Skill to Agent Toolkit for Database Automation
Amazon Web Services has added an Amazon DocumentDB skill to the Agent Toolkit for AWS, enabling AI coding agents to manage database operations through predefined workflows. AI coding agents can set up, manage, migrate, optimize, and troubleshoot Amazon DocumentDB clusters using step-by-step best-practice workflows, reducing errors and helping developers move faster without needing to look up DocumentDB operations guidance manually.
The skill supports seven tasks, including cluster provisioning, schema design, MongoDB compatibility assessments, migrations using AWS Database Migration Service, performance tuning, major version upgrades and a 41-check well-architected review. It can also operate with the AWS MCP Server, allowing agents to run command-line operations and diagnostic queries under identity-based controls, audit logging and sandboxed execution.
Development teams can alternatively run the skill locally through the AWS Command Line Interface. AWS is offering it at no additional charge as part of the Agent Toolkit.
