AWS Config Adds Support for Internal Service-Linked Rules
Amazon Web Services has added support for internal service-linked rules in AWS Config, extending how organizations can monitor compliance and configuration management across cloud environments.
Internal service-linked rules extend the existing service-linked recorder capability by allowing AWS services such as AWS Security Hub CSPM to deploy and manage rule evaluations for service-specific functionality. This allows customers to continue using AWS Config for inventory, governance, compliance and auditing use cases while AWS services independently manage service-specific evaluations. These rules are designed to help customers track resource configurations and evaluate whether cloud environments align with operational and governance requirements.
AWS said the update simplifies integration between AWS services and Config by enabling automated compliance checks that are tied directly to specific service capabilities. The goal is to provide organizations with greater visibility into configuration changes and policy adherence without requiring extensive manual setup. AWS Security Hub CSPM internal service-linked rules are now available in all commercial, GovCloud and China Regions.
