AWS Transform Gets Agentic AI Assistant in Visual Studio Toolkit
AWS has announced an interactive agentic AI assistant to AWS Transform, now available directly inside the AWS Toolkit for Visual Studio. The move brings .NET application modernization into the IDE itself, letting developers work through the process conversationally without ever leaving their coding environment or switching to the web console.
The assistant guides developers through modernization via a step-by-step, chat-driven workflow. It analyses source code, produces a detailed assessment report, and generates a transformation plan, all within Visual Studio. Developers retain full control at every stage: they can review generated diffs, approve or edit each step, upload a custom plan, and steer the agent using natural language.
Key capabilities include, checkpointing and pause/resume, automatic build-error fixing, detailed worklogs, HTML summary report and cross-environment continuity. Beyond Visual Studio, the same Transform agent capabilities are accessible via Kiro (through Kiro Powers for AWS Transform) and other AI coding assistants and environments via AWS Transform MCP agents, reducing context-switching for teams already using those tools.
The feature is live in the following AWS Regions: US East (N. Virginia), Canada (Central), Europe (Frankfurt), Europe (London), Asia Pacific (Mumbai), Asia Pacific (Seoul), Asia Pacific (Sydney) and Asia Pacific (Tokyo).
