AT&T Extends NetBond to More AWS Solution Providers
Telecom giant AT&T took another step in its partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) this week by giving users of its NetBond platform access to solutions hosted on the AWS cloud.
AT&T's NetBond service lets its customers connect to the cloud and cloud-based services through a VPN, bypassing the public Internet and thus reducing security risks.
On Tuesday, AT&T announced that NetBond users now have "enhanced connectivity" to over 100 solution providers on the AWS Marketplace, including Symantec, Cisco CloudLock, OneLogin, Splunk and Trend Micro. A full list of providers is available form AT&T here.
The NetBond expansion is part of AT&T's partnership with AWS around the cloud provider's Direct Connect service, which lets users set up dedicated network connections from their on-premises environments to the AWS cloud.
"For many businesses, managing complex network deployments and security risks is a key priority when migrating information to the cloud," said Terry Wise, head of Channels and Alliances at AWS, in a prepared statement. "The capabilities we are working to provide with AT&T help address those issues by providing additional flexibility and control over an even greater number of AWS cloud services."
AT&T also launched a program for AWS solution providers that want to expand customer access to their offerings via NetBond connections. The new AT&T NetBond for Cloud Solution Provider program lets providers "[identify] AT&T NetBond for Cloud as a dynamic, flexible and highly secure connectivity option when used with AWS Direct Connect (DX) Bundles," AT&T said in its announcement.
Tuesday's news builds on the ongoing partnership between AT&T and AWS that was first unveiled last fall. At the time, the two companies promised to begin integrating their various IoT, networking and security offerings, with the potential to expand into other areas in the future.
