AWS Expands Reach of Latest Claude Sonnet 'Most Intelligent' AI Model from Anthropic

Amazon Web Services (AWS) this week announced that Claude Sonnet 4.5--developed by Anthropic--is now available in Amazon Bedrock in GovCloud (US-West) and GovCloud (US-East) via the US-GOV cross-Region inference profile. The model is described as Anthropic's "most intelligent" model, excelling in building complex agents, coding, and long-horizon tasks while delivering strong speed and cost-efficiency for high-volume use cases.

Due to Amazon's partnership with Anthropic, the cloud giant was the first to feature the frontier model in its Bedrock service in September.

Claude Sonnet 4.5 leads the SWE-bench Verified benchmarks with improved instruction-following, code improvement identification, stronger refactoring judgment, and more effective production-ready code generation.

Customers can use it to power long-running agents that perform multi-step tasks--for instance managing multi-channel marketing campaigns, orchestrating cross-functional enterprise workflows, shifting cybersecurity teams from reactive detection to proactive defense, or driving advanced financial modeling.

With the Amazon Bedrock API, Claude Sonnet 4.5 offers context-editing to remove stale tool-call history and a new memory tool that allows the model to store and consult information outside the context window--helping boost accuracy and performance in production workflows.

Government-sector customers in AWS GovCloud (US) regions can now access advanced agent and coding capabilities via Bedrock, leveraging the secure, compliant infrastructure of GovCloud while using state-of-the-art models.
