AWS IQ: Help Wanted for Project Work
The Amazon Web Services cloud unveiled a new service called AWS IQ to help its users sign up certified experts for on-demand project work.
The AWS IQ site says the new service "enables customers to quickly find, engage, and pay AWS Certified third-party experts for on-demand project work."
In a blog post, spokesperson Jeff Barr said he believes the service is especially useful for small and medium-sized businesses. The post demonstrates using he AWS IQ Console to create a new request, with available request categories including:
- Learn about AWS
- Plan your AWS project
- Setup AWS services
- Migrate to AWS
- Estimate and optimize your AWS spend
Users can monitor response proposals from the console, chat with experts to clarify details of the project, compare different proposals, review profiles of the experts, and select the best fit, after which they can indicate when no more proposals are being accepted.
For those wanting to become experts eligible for inclusion in the program, they can consult AWS IQ for Experts, providing they have one or more active AWS Certifications, live in the United States and be able to provide U.S. banking/tax information.
Barr also listed more things to know about the program:
- Customers -- Customers can reside anywhere in the world except China.
- Experts -- Applications from several hundred would-be experts have already been reviewed and accepted; we’ll continue to add more as quickly as possible. As I noted earlier, experts must reside in the United States.
- Project Value -- The project value must be $1 or more.
- Payment -- The customer’s payment is charged to their AWS account at their request, and disbursed monthly to the expert’s account. Customers will be able to see their payments on their AWS bill.
- In the Works -- We have a long roadmap for this cool new service, but we are eager to get your feedback and will use it to drive our prioritization process. Please take a look at AWS IQ and let us know what you think!
