CTERA Offers On-Demand Data Protection on AWS Cloud
CTERA Networks' on-demand data protection service is now available on the Amazon Web Services Inc. (AWS) cloud.
The CTERA Cloud Server Data Protection Platform enables enterprises to deploy automated file-level backup solutions for applications and servers residing in the cloud.
CTERA said its offering enables enterprises to deduplicate and compress backups at their source, resulting in network-optimized protection of data in an Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC), spanning AWS Availability Zones and multiple cloud providers.
The company said its backup and recovery service can also help enterprises save money by moving backup data from Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) to Amazon S3-Standard Infrequent Access tier (Standard – IA), which entails lower storage costs.
Software and infrastructure pricing varies according to chosen options, but a monthly $1,000 subscription fee is charged regardless of how many instances are launched after subscribing.
"The enterprise data protection game is changing as organizations increasingly embrace the cloud as part of their production and protection strategies," the company quoted ESG analyst Jason Buffington as saying. "Organizations of all sizes are seeking better ways to safeguard the workloads and data residing within cloud-based services, as well as for endpoints and ROBOs that have historically been problematic to protect. CTERA's approach around a cost-effective, secure and scalable solution for in-cloud and cross-cloud data protection makes them one to watch as organizations continue to improve their data protection across an increasingly diverse and distributed workplace."
