Informatica Boosts AWS Integrations, Launches Data Lake Management Solution
Informatica, a provider of cloud data management solutions for enterprises, has bolstered its toolset for organizations managing large amounts of data in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud.
The company launched its new Governed Data Lake Management Solution on Monday, coinciding with the start of the AWS re:Invent conference, which this year is being held as a three-week virtual event.
Informatica's offering is designed to give organizations a better handle on their AWS data lakes, with features for data management, data cataloging, and setting and enforcing data privacy rules.
According to the announcement, users of the Governed Data Lake Management Solution can expect to:
- Discover and organize data assets across the enterprise, automatically curate and augment the metadata with business context and infer relationships and lineage with Intelligent Data Cataloging.
- Quickly and efficiently build data pipelines without hand-coding and rapidly migrate on-premises data workloads to Amazon S3 data lakes through Cloud-Native Data Integration.
- Define and automatically enforce data management and data privacy policies to ensure delivery of trusted data across the enterprise and in compliance with regulations such as CCPA and GDPR.
- Automatically identify and fix data quality issues, ensuring that data lake consumers have access to clean, trusted data.
"With Informatica's metadata-driven, intelligent cloud data management capabilities, organizations can realize the promise of cloud data warehouses, data lakes and data lakehouses on AWS by automating the delivery of trusted, accurate data that drives faster innovation," the company said.
Informatica also announced AWS-related improvements to the Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services (IICS) product, described as a "next-generation iPaaS," or Integration Platform as a Service. These improvements, aimed at helping Informatica customers manage their various AWS data assets, include:
- The ability to perform serverless extract, transform and load (ETL) tasks.
- "Code-free data management" of Amazon S3 data using the new Amazon Athena connector.
- A new "pushdown optimization" feature for more seamless data processing.
