AWS Partner Launches VMware Cloud on AWS Accelerator
2nd Watch, an Amazon Web Services (AWS) managed services provider based in Seattle, Wash., has launched a new program that guides customers through the process of deploying the VMware Cloud on AWS solution in their environments.
The company's "Solution Accelerator for VMware Cloud on AWS" gives consulting, planning and deployment support to VMware customers that are plotting a move to the AWS cloud.
Since last fall, VMware and AWS have been offering the VMware Cloud on AWS service to enable their joint customers to integrate their on-premises VMware environments with AWS tools. The solution is geared toward companies looking to run hybrid computing scenarios without having to rewrite their applications or purchase new hardware.
The 2nd Watch accelerator, available as of Thursday, aims to make the move to the AWS cloud even more seamless, particularly for "very dedicated and diehard VMware users," according to Executive Vice President Jeff Aden.
"Skilled and experienced 2nd Watch engineers will help customers understand the process of migrating, bursting and backing-up data to VMware Cloud on AWS, and assist customers as they continue to move to the cloud regardless of where they are on their journey," Aden said in a prepared statement.
Specifically, the 2nd Watch accelerator will give customers four weeks' worth of help as they begin deploying VMware Cloud on AWS. In those four weeks, 2nd Watch will "analyze a company's current VMware environment, outline a plan for running that infrastructure on VMware Cloud on AWS, and execute a pilot of that implementation," the company said in its announcement.
2nd Watch will also help customers make cost projections of their migration, as well as develop best practices.
