Networking Competency Now Open for AWS Partners

Amazon Web Services (AWS) launched a new networking competency for qualified AWS Partner Network (APN) members this week at its re:Invent 2017 Global Partner Summit.

The new AWS Networking Competency is meant for APN partners "that provide network solutions that [help] customers adopt, develop, and deploy applications on AWS," AWS said in its announcement Tuesday. "Networking Competency Partners offer a set of specialized solutions that auto-scale, are aligned with cloud design principles, and make it easier to use networking features in a [virtual private cloud]."

There are currently 18 partners that hold the competency, which has five categories: Technology for Network Connectivity, Direct Connect Integrated Partners, Direct Connect Infrastructure Partners, Technology for Load Balancers and Technology for Network Management. Partners are welcome to apply for more than one category, according to this competency datasheet, but must submit new applications for each one.

To qualify for the AWS Networking Competency, a partner must be registered under the APN as an advanced-tier Technology Partner. Other requirements include:

  • A Business level+ Support plan.
  • Customer references for networking projects completed within the past year. The number and types of references required will vary depending on which category the partner is applying for.
  • A networking solution built on AWS that's available in at least two regions.

"Deep working knowledge architecting networking solutions and applications leveraging AWS services is mandatory," according to the datasheet.

More information on the AWS Networking Competency is available here.
