Druva To Extend Its Data Management Platform to AWS with 'Apollo'
Druva, a provider of data management and protection solutions for the cloud, this week said it is adding support for Amazon Web Services (AWS) to its flagship cloud platform.
The company is readying a new service dubbed "Apollo" that will extend the Druva Cloud Platform's existing cross-cloud data protection capabilities to AWS solutions, including the Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), Simple Storage Service (S3), Elastic Block Store (EBS), Glacier and Relational Database Service (RDS).
The solution is slated to become generally available sometime in the first half of 2018, the company said in its press release.
Druva's platform already provides data protection and management for Microsoft Office 365, Box and Salesforce.com. The addition of AWS to its arsenal via Apollo comes as organizations' computing environments become increasingly heterogeneous, spanning multiple providers both on-premises and in the cloud.
"With the growth and changing dynamics of cloud services usage, businesses are faced with the real challenge of not having a cohesive way to understand, protect and manage the lifecycle of their data wherever it's stored," said Dave Packer, Druva's vice president of product and alliances marketing, in a prepared statement. "With this service as part of our Druva Cloud Platform, organizations will achieve greater visibility into the usage of their cloud stored IaaS and PaaS data and be able to protect and manage it more effectively over time."
Apollo will let users gain insight into their assets both in the AWS cloud and on-premises via a single, centralized control pane. It aims to help users identify "what data lies inside the storage, who's using it, determine the level of protection for that data and determine the lifecycle or how to manage the data," Druva said in its announcement.
