AWS Clocks More Service Expansions
Amazon Web Services (AWS) spent the first half of this month expanding the global availability of many of its services. The second half was no different.
Here's a rundown of the latest AWS service expansions:
- The company added support for its AWS Deep Learning AMIs out of its Ohio, Sydney, Tokyo and Seoul regions.
- The AWS Batch service can now be run out of regions in Ohio, London, Frankfurt, Sydney and Tokyo.
- Also newly available out of the Tokyo region, as well as Singapore, is Amazon Athena.
- Users can now run Amazon RDS using the general-purpose M4 instance family via the Sao Paulo region.
- Both AWS Lambda and the Amazon API Gateway are newly available out of the Canada region.
- The Frankfurt region -- which now has three availability zones -- now supports Amazon Aurora.
- AWS Greengrass is also newly available out of the Frankfurt region, as well as Sydney.
- The AWS CodePipeline and CodeBuild services are both available in three new regions: San Francisco, Canada and London.
- The Mumbai and Canada regions now support running AWS CodeCommit.
- Finally, AWS is expanding availability of its Direct Connect service to users in Kuala Lumpur and Seoul.
Besides the added geographical support for these services, AWS recently announced plans to expand its cloud infrastructure with the addition of two more regions: one in Hong Kong and in the other the eastern United States. Both are expected to open by the end of next year.
