Veeam Partners with N2W Software for AWS Availability Solution

At its annual conference, Veeam Software announced a new availability solution for the Amazon Web Services Inc. (AWS) cloud that it developed in partnership with N2W Software.

The new Veeam Availability for AWS can help enterprises move to multi-cloud or hybrid-cloud environments by providing agentless backup and recovery of AWS instances.

N2W Software contributed its Cloud Protection Manager to the joint solution, which helps enterprises copy data from the AWS cloud to a Veeam-hosted repository, providing a hybrid approach for operational backups and cross-platform disaster recovery services.

"There is a growing focus on hybrid architecture, however enterprises need to be able to ensure the integrity of their data within these environments," said N2W CEO Jason Judge in an N2W statement yesterday. "Our integration and collaboration with Veeam delivers truly accessible hybrid cloud infrastructures."

The new AWS solution comes within a new edition of Veeam's software, Veeam Availability Suite v10.

"This solution mitigates the risk of losing access to your applications and ensures protection of your AWS data against accidental deletion, malicious activity and outages," Veeam said in a statement yesterday.

The company listed the following features that are included in the solution:

  • Cloud-native, agentless backup and recovery using native AWS snapshots eliminating complexity and improving recovery SLAs.
  • Mitigation of risk of downtime and data loss for AWS workloads by decoupling data and storing backups independently from the underlying AWS infrastructure.
  • The advantage of powerful and reliable recovery technologies to achieve industry-leading RTOs including instant recovery, granular file and application recovery.

Veeam also announced the new Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows, which extends the company's "Always-On Cloud" Availability Platform to public cloud and physical servers, supporting workloads on the AWS cloud, Microsoft Azure and others.
