AWS DevOps Firm Stelligent Acquired by Hosting

Managed cloud services provider Hosting has acquired Stelligent, a provider of DevOps automation solutions for Amazon Web Services (AWS), for an unknown sum.

Under the terms of the acquisition, which the two companies announced Tuesday, Stelligent Co-Founders Rob Daly and Paul Duvall will join Hosting's executive ranks as vice president of public cloud consulting and chief technology officer, respectively. Reston, Va.-based Stelligent will operate as a division of Hosting.

Founded in 2007, Stelligent is an AWS Partner Network (APN) Advanced Consulting Partner that has focused exclusively on AWS solutions since 2013. Its bread-and-butter is providing DevOps automation services that provide AWS developers with continuous and "one-click deployment" capabilities.

Hosting, meanwhile, is a 20-year-old MSP and professional services firm based in Denver, Colo., with over 2,000 customers worldwide. Its managed cloud offerings support AWS and Microsoft Azure, among other vendors, and come in public, private and hybrid cloud configurations.

The two companies are positioning the deal as mutually beneficial, with Stelligent gaining a better value proposition for its customers by piggybacking on Hosting's managed services, and Hosting gaining the benefit of Stelligent's DevOps expertise to boost its offerings, particularly its Hosting Unified Cloud platform.

"The space we operate in is maturing incredibly quickly. For many years, Stelligent customers have been asking us to provide managed services, including monitoring, security and compliance, in their AWS environments. The demand is significant," Stelligent said in its FAQ. "As we explored the possibility of extending our operations, we realized we did not have the resources or capabilities to do it the right way -- the way we want to do it and the way our customers deserve -- on our own. With HOSTING, we will be able to extend our offerings to better serve customers and, most importantly, do it right. Our joint offering will enable customers to plan, migrate, automate, optimize and secure their applications within AWS with a unique and advanced end-to-end solution set."

According to Hosting's FAQ, "With the Stelligent acquisition, we can now provide the superior service and cutting-edge solutions we are known for throughout the application lifecycle in the AWS cloud. In layman's terms: we now can harness the full power of the public cloud -- and automate or fully manage many labor-intensive internal IT tasks -- for our medium-sized and enterprise customers. One team and one mission throughout the AWS application lifecycle will dramatically reduce release cycles, cost of failure and security and compliance risks."

The two companies assured customers that the acquisition should not cause any service interruptions, at least in the immediate future. In addition, "there will be no reduction in staff" at either company, Hosting said in its FAQ.
