Box Offers Incubator Program for AWS-Backed Enterprise Apps
In less than three weeks, companies can apply to take part in a new incubator program to receive free credits and other help in order to build a new generation of enterprise apps based on the Box content management platform and leveraging the Amazon Web Services Inc. (AWS) cloud.
Box provides cloud storage, similar to other offerings such as Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive and so on. It facilitates file sharing, collaboration and enterprise content management, while also offering app development services such as UI components and SDKs to work with the content platform.
The new Box Platform Incubator program was announced last week at the company's BoxWorks 2016 conference.
"The next great enterprise apps will be cloud-based and massively scalable, have user experiences that rival leading consumer applications, and meet the security and compliance requirements of the enterprise," Box said in a statement. "To support the development of these apps, the Box Platform Incubator offers free services from Box, and AWS will offer free usage credits that can be applied to select AWS services, along with Box-led marketing opportunities and mentorship from Box and AWS experts."
Those marketing and mentorship opportunities include mentions of the accepted projects in Box Platform digital marketing, such as blog posts, social media posts and e-mail marketing campaigns. Also, participating companies will see speaking and branding opportunities at events and webinars focusing on the Box Platform. Yet another benefit is free or discounted training opportunities for developers working with Box and AWS.
"We're looking for six enterprise applications to join our first cohort and work side-by-side with Box and Amazon Web Services experts," the incubator Web site says.
Companies can apply to be included in the incubator program starting Oct. 1.
