AWS Partner Mission Offering Free Access to Its Cost-Management Experts

Mission Cloud Services, an AWS managed services provider (MSP) and a Premier Consulting Partner within the AWS Partner Network (APN), is sweetening the pot for organizations who sign up to its AWS resale program.

Launched earlier this month, the Mission Cloud Foundation will give companies who purchase AWS licenses through Mission the opportunity to consult with one of Mission's cloud analysts for ongoing, personalized assistance with managing their AWS environments.

The Cloud Foundation service is designed to help customers in these ways:

  • Manage Costs: The analyst will give "ongoing recommendations for greater savings and cost containment," Mission said. They will help organizations root out unused or underused resources, create budget alerts and research different pricing options.
  • Improve Visibility into Cloud Billing: Organizations can raise questions about their cloud charges to their assigned analyst. Additionally, "Mission can reallocate charges, reference purchase order numbers, and set up automated custom reports."
  • Give Guidance on Best Practices and Governance: Mission will perform ongoing checks of an organization's AWS usage and give recommendations around areas like resource efficiency and security. Customers will also receive help in defining and implementing governance policies that are in line with AWS best practices.

Additionally, companies enrolled in Mission Cloud Foundation will be able to use CloudHealth, VMware's cloud management platform.

According to Alex Beal, Mission's director of product, the Cloud Foundation service is designed to help organizations get a handle on the complexity of their AWS environments, which can include multiple services that are billed on different pricing models.

"In consulting with AWS customers, many of them express the need to get a handle on cloud sprawl and runaway costs but don't have the visibility or resources they need to bring their environment under control. As a result, customers are often forced into the mode of putting out fires or not solving the problem at all," Beal said in a prepared statement. "Mission is ready to assist businesses across industries in improving cost management, achieving both quick optimization wins and long-term governance, and empowering confidence as businesses scale their AWS environments."
