Splunk Cloud Now on AWS

Splunk Inc. said its Splunk Cloud is now available on Amazon Web Services Inc. (AWS).

The Splunk Cloud is the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) version of the Big Data company's Splunk Enterprise solution for gleaning operational intelligence from machine-generated data.

The Splunk Enterprise offering -- which can scale to 10TB of data analysis per day -- works with data from any source, the company said, and features search, analysis and visualization capabilities that can be used by any staffers. It comes with related apps to handle functionality such as security, operations and business analysis.

In the cloud, the Splunk service includes a 100 percent uptime service-level agreement (SLA). Along with the apps, developers have access to APIs and software development kits (SDKs).

Splunk is also providing a Splunk App for AWS to work with the Amazon cloud. "The app offers a prebuilt knowledgebase of dashboards and reports to deliver real-time visibility into your environment using data from AWS CloudTrail, Config and Billing," the company said in a statement.

The San Francisco company, making the announcement last week at the AWS Summit in London, said the Splunk Cloud is generally available through nine AWS global regions and is coming soon to the AWS GovCloud for U.S. government agencies, contractors and businesses.

"Splunk is a long-term, innovative AWS Technology Partner and we are excited to see [the company] extend [its] reach to new geographies," said AWS exec Terry Wise in a statement. "By 'going-global' on AWS, Splunk is able to serve the needs of organizations worldwide, including those moving mission-critical production workloads to the cloud. We are excited to see Splunk's global footprint increase as we launch more AWS regions around the world."
