Splunk Rolls Out Analytics for AWS Resources
Machine data company Splunk is putting its analytics expertise to work in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud.
The company this week took the wraps off a new solution called Splunk Insights for AWS Cloud Monitoring, touting it as an "analytics-based approach" to traditional resource management tools.
Splunk argues that while more organizations are moving their applications to the cloud to take advantage of its scalability and potential for savings, those benefits are too often curbed by unpredictable costs, resource needs, and application performance levels and availability.
The new AWS monitoring solution is designed to reduce these uncertainties by giving organizations a complete and real-time view of their entire AWS environments, providing critical insights into application configurations, performance, security/compliance and billing.
It also has predictive capabilities, so organizations can forecast the degree and cost of the cloud resources they're on track to use, and deploy or decommission resources as needed.
Users can deploy Splunk Insights for AWS Cloud Monitoring from the AWS Marketplace, and it integrates with a number of AWS solutions, including CloudWatch, CloudTrail, AWS Config and Amazon RDS.
"As our customers migrate their critical workloads to AWS, real-time insight into the performance of their workloads is crucial to successful cloud adoption," said Dave McCann, AWS' head of marketplace and catalog services, in a prepared statement. "Making Splunk Insights for AWS Cloud Monitoring available on AWS Marketplace gives our customers access to a solution that assists in comprehensive monitoring of their workloads from the critical point of migration, to long after the application is running on AWS."
Pricing for Splunk Insights for AWS Cloud Monitoring starts at $7,500 annually, though the company is offering a free 30-day trial. More information is available here.
