Cloudian Object Storage Now in AWS Marketplace
Cloudian Inc.'s object storage software, which is compatible with Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3), is now available on the AWS Marketplace.
The company, which specializes in software-defined data storage, said its HyperStore flagship offering lets customers store their data on-premises or on Amazon S3 or Amazon Glacier, the latter for data archiving or long-term backup.
"As more organizations take advantage of the cloud to reduce IT and data center complexity, Amazon S3 object storage is becoming a preferred standard for new applications in many companies. Cloudian's Amazon S3-compatible object storage is available to procure and deploy from AWS Marketplace, making it easier for customers to have a complete hybrid storage solution," said AWS exec Barry Russell in a statement. "With automatic tiering and integrated metering and billing from AWS Marketplace, Cloudian provides businesses of all sizes with software-defined infrastructure for a hybrid environment, all behind the customer's firewall."
Cloudian said its AWS Marketplace offering provides S3-compatible centralized hybrid cloud management from one tool.
The HyperStore service comes with usage-based monitoring that's billed directly from AWS. The AWS Marketplace lists two Cloudian products: Cloudian HyperStore Hybrid Storage Service, starting at $0.03 per GB for software usage plus AWS fees; and Cloudian HyperStore with a "bring your own license" plan, plus AWS usage fees.
"Cloudian's support of Amazon S3 APIs and Amazon S3-compatible object storage gives customers the ability to maximize their storage investment with all the benefits AWS offers," said Cloudian exec Jon Ash. "Listing Cloudian HyperStore in AWS Marketplace gives customers and service providers increased management simplicity and data-storage flexibility for their hybrid environments."
