AWS Upgrades Free Security Training
Amazon Web Services Inc. (AWS) has upgraded its free training for security practices, always the topmost concern of IT execs, especially in the cloud where much security functionality is ceded to the host.
AWS Security Fundamentals features new content about topics such as encryption, network security, access control and management, governance, logging, and more.
"It also addresses security-related compliance protocols, risk management strategies, and procedures for auditing AWS security infrastructure," AWS exec Janna Pellegrino said in a recent blog post.
The free, four-hour, self-paced course targets IT business and security professionals, auditors, analysts and regulators, AWS said.
Curse upgrades include new content about the AWS Shared Responsibility Model, AWS compliance and assurance programs and services for enforcing governance, compliance and risk management.
Along with the coursework, the program features demonstrations of functionality such as encrypting root volumes, firewall configuration and working with AWS Config Rules to gauge the compliance of AWS environments.
Finally, a quiz is available to test users' proficiency with security concepts and services running on the AWS cloud.
Pellegrino said the fundamentals course is a recommended prerequisite for the three-day Security Operations on AWS course that's offered for $2,095 in live or virtual classrooms.
