Zoomdata Launches Visual Big Data Analytics on AWS

Zoomdata, specializing in Big Data visualization and analytics, today announced an Amazon Web Services Inc. (AWS) offering for visual interaction with streaming or at-rest data from a variety of sources in the cloud or on-premises.

Zoomdata for Amazon Web Services leverages a large collection of Smart Connectors for working with data from many newer and traditional stores of all kinds.

Those include: Amazon's Redshift; Amazon Simple Serve (S3); Hive and Amazon Elastic MapReduce (EMR); Amazon Aurora and Amazon Kinesis; Hadoop distributions from Cloudera and Hortonworks; Spark, Solr; MongoDB; MemSQL; Oracle; MySQL; SQL Server; flat files; and APIs.

"Zoomdata, which is architected to leverage the processing power of modern data environments such as Amazon Redshift, takes the query to the data to deliver actionable visual analytics, charts and dashboards against billions of rows of data, within seconds," the company said. "This 'schema on read' approach eliminates the need to move copies of data to redundant repositories that are built around proprietary schemas or pre-aggregated results. Instead, 'schema on read' means users can have an interactive experience with all of their data, wherever it resides, in seconds."

That's accomplished via a native architecture that uses optimized microservices for both cloud and on-premises implementations, including Data Sharpening technology that provides fast, real-time, visual analytics for streaming or historical data. Another service, Zoomdata Fusion, facilitates joining Big Data with other data stores for analytics without having to transform or move the data, making multiple sources look like one.

"Zoomdata brings visual analytics to all business users -- not just data analysts -- via an intuitive user interface that can be used out of the box or embedded in custom applications," the AWS Marketplace site for Zoomdata Server states.

Hourly pricing starts at $1.91 per hour, with annual subscriptions also available that include premium support. A 30-day free trial is available for each option. AWS services are billed separately.
