Nonprofits Reap AWS Cloud Benefits for Free

Amazon Web Services Inc. (AWS) announced it is providing nonprofit organizations with free cloud computing products and services.

The cloud provider is partnering with the nonprofit technology network TechSoup Global (TSG), which helps nonprofits find free or discounted products or services.

In the AWS Credits Program for Nonprofits, the company is donating credits and more to eligible organizations, including:

  • $2,000 worth of AWS service credits annually.
  • Packaged services such as Amazon WorkDocs, Amazon WorkMail and Amazon WorkSpaces.
  • Guidance on how to get started with AWS.
  • Access to the AWS Free Tier and Self Starter Package for nonprofits interested in AWS services beyond the packaged services offered.

AWS said more than 17,500 nonprofit organizations already use the AWS cloud.

"With AWS, nonprofits don't have to make large upfront investments in hardware and spend time and effort managing that hardware," the company said in a Friday blog post.

TechSoup exec Gayle Samuelson Carpentier said, "Being able to announce our partnership with AWS means together we are able to meet a very specific need for the nonprofit community. By bringing this generous offer to the sector, AWS is enabling nonprofits to benefit from cloud-based solutions with top tier support. This program goes a long way toward helping TechSoup deliver on its promise to connect change-makers worldwide with the technology they need to improve lives."
