Array Networks Aims SSL VPN at AWS
With security the top-of-mind concern among Amazon Web Services Inc. (AWS) users, new solutions to increase cloud computing safety are continually being introduced by AWS itself and private vendors looking to address niche use cases.
The latest example, coming just a week after AWS simplified its Secure Sockets Layer/Transport Layer Security (SSL/TLS) certificate management, is a new virtual SSL virtual private network (VPN) introduced today by Array Networks Inc.
The vxAG Virtual SSL VPN, now available in the AWS Marketplace, reflects a shift in security priorities that emphasizes data security in addition to network and device security, the Milpitas, Calif., company said.
"The Array virtual vxAG on AWS centralizes control over access to applications, desktops, files, networks and Web sites from a broad range of remote and mobile devices -- providing connection, end-point and server-side security for business-critical applications running on AWS while at the same time increasing productivity for employees, partners, customers and other communities of interest," the company said in a statement today.
Users only need to purchase the solution from the AWS Marketplace and activate it with a bring-your-own-license (BYOL) to get started, as it runs natively on AWS, Array said. The company provides perpetual, monthly and yearly subscription licenses.
"Businesses look to AWS to support their IT infrastructure requirements," said Array exec Paul Andersen in a statement. "However, moving resources out of the enterprise and onto the cloud creates the need for highly secure and highly robust secure remote and mobile access. With the vxAG on AWS, we are meeting our customers' evolving cloud requirements and broadening Array's secure access portfolio while continuing to keep an emphasis on securing corporate data and limiting network exposure."
