Security Startup Axonius Taps into AWS Technologies

Axonius announced this week that it was deepening its integrations with the Amazon Web Services (AWS) security stack.

The flagship offering of New York-based Axonius is a security asset management platform that gives organizations an easy way to manage their cloud resources, assess their security and perform mitigation steps when a threat is detected.

Its AWS adapter solution, which is available on the AWS Marketplace here, lets organizations "track and manage AWS assets, including EC2, ECS, EKS, IAM, EBS, ELB, RDS, S3, VPC, Workspaces, Lambda, and Route 53," according to a description on the Axonius site.

"With the AWS adapter connected, customers can correlate AWS services with other IT and Solutions, understand security control coverage across AWS assets, and understand whether AWS assets meet company policies or align with security best practices."

On Thursday, the company announced further integrations with AWS. It's adding support for three additional AWS products -- Amazon Macie, which identifies wide-open S3 buckets; Amazon GuardDuty, a threat scanning tool that uses machine learning; and AWS SecurityHub, a one-and-done tool for managing security alerts. Axonius is also updating its capabilities related to Amazon Inspector, an automated security-assessment service.

These integrations are in addition to Axonius' support for third-party security solutions from AWS partners. All together, they make Axonius a more complete security management platform than before, according to the company.

"As companies continue to shift workloads to the cloud, they're also increasingly leveraging cloud provider-native security service offerings," said Mark Daggett, vice president of Worldwide Channels and Alliances at Axonius, in a prepared statement. "Yet customers are still exhausted by the highly-manual, slow, and error-prone processes that negatively impact their risk mitigation, threat management, and compliance. With Axonius and AWS, customers finally have a unified view of their assets while dramatically strengthening their security posture."
