AWS Launches Education Competency for Partners
Following last week's launch of a storage competency, Amazon Web Services (AWS) this week added another specialty to the roster of certifications that AWS Partner Network (APN) members can earn.
The new education competency, announced on Wednesday, is designed for Advanced- and Premier-tier partners in the APN that have good track records of developing AWS-based solutions for schools, educators and students.
It's open to both technology and consulting partners. Qualified consulting partners must "have proven success and expertise in the design, building, deployment, and management of mission-critical workloads in the AWS Cloud for primary, secondary, post-secondary, and academic research education customers," AWS said in its announcement.
For technology partners to achieve the competency, they must have solid experience in building solutions that facilitate either "teaching and learning" (such as virtual classrooms or content management systems) or administrative operations (such as facilities management systems and student information systems).
In addition to having an APN membership at the Advanced tier or higher, partners must also be enrolled in the AWS Public Sector Partner Program to apply for the education competency. They must also supply at least four customer references related to education-related projects.
A detailed checklist of requirements for consulting partners is available here and for technology partners here.
AWS lists 19 education partners at launch, a dozen of them on the technology side (Acquia, Alfresco, Blackboard, D2L, Echo360, Ellucian, Instructure, Preservica, Remind, Solodev, Splunk and TechnologyOne) and the remainder on the consulting (Cloudmas, DLT Solutions, Enquizit, Infiniti Consulting Group, IT Era, NorthBay Solutions and REAN Cloud).
