Bsquare Teams with AWS for Business-Driven IoT Service
Targeting business and industrial customers, Bsquare Corp. announced it was working with Amazon Web Services Inc. (AWS) to provide a cloud-based Internet of Things (IoT) service.
Bsquare is bringing its DataV IoT software stack to work with the AWS IoT managed cloud platform.
The Bellevue, Wash., company, a member of the AWS Partner Network (APN), said its solution provides real-world business value for IoT applications. IoT is a nascent industry that is growing and evolving past test scenarios and proof of concepts. "Unless tailored to achieve critical business objectives, IoT will be nothing more than a science experiment," the company says on its Web site.
AWS exec Marco Argenti said Bsquare's device-level software solutions, integrated with its cloud-level offerings, augment the AWS managed service. "AWS IoT enables customers to easily connect their devices to the AWS Cloud at scale, take action on the data they collect, and create a new class of applications that interact with the physical world," he said.
DataV helps organizations connect widespread devices, monitor data flows, take corrective actions automatically when problems are found and predict adverse conditions before they happen, optimizing business-critical assets and processes, Bsquare said in a statement yesterday. It works with on-premises implementations, hybrid infrastructures and cloud systems.
"Deploying DataV on the AWS Cloud allows Bsquare to rapidly implement IoT solutions that help our customers address critical business needs," said Bsquare exec Mark Whiteside. "Utilizing AWS IoT gives Bsquare the ability to not only connect edge devices, but easily move data between those devices and the AWS Cloud. As importantly, the scalability, security and power of the AWS infrastructure allows our customers to implement long-term and flexible solutions."
