AWS Rolls Out Mobile Partner Competency Certification

Addressing the burgeoning enterprise "mobile-first" focus, Amazon Web Services Inc. (AWS) has added a mobile certification that recognizes competency in that field for members of its AWS Partner Network (APN).

"The new APN Mobile Competency recognizes partners that have deep experience with mobile-first development," AWS exec Jeff Barr wrote in a blog post recently. "They help their customers to build, test, analyze, and monitor their AWS-powered mobile apps."

APN Competencies "indicate that a member of the APN has demonstrated their hard-won expertise and proven success in specialized solution areas," Barr said. "After a partner has demonstrated their expertise to us, they are eligible to join the APN and to list their competencies in their marketing materials."

That's just what enterprise mobility company Kony Inc., a "launch partner" for the new APN Mobile Competency, did last week.

"Achieving the APN Mobile Competency recognition is evidence of how seriously we take our commitment to delivering world-class technology services and solutions to a wide array of organizations around the globe," said Kony exec Burley Kawasaki in a statement. "Meeting the rigorous standards required to be one of the first to join this elite club and achieve this APN Mobile Competency further positions Kony as a leader in mobile application development and business innovation."

Kony is a launch partner in the "developer tools and components" classification, earned by partners who "accelerate project creation with tools and components to assist with each lifecycle stage of software development." Other launch partners in this classification include Twilio, SecureAuth, Xamarin and AuthO.

Other classifications include testing and performance management; analytics and user engagement; and app development and consulting.

The new mobile competency joins an existing stable of certifications that includes: security; marketing and commerce; healthcare; digital media; storage and life sciences.
