Software AG Goes All in on AWS

Software AG announced it will move its entire cloud portfolio to the Amazon Web Services Inc. (AWS) platform as part of its new "Transformation to the Cloud" initiative, designed to help enterprises identify and enact the best cloud strategies.

"Software AG has chosen AWS as its strategic, global [Infrastructure-as-a-Service] IaaS provider as it is the clear market leader both in size and brand awareness among large-scale enterprises and due the resulting excellent operational efficiencies," the company said. "AWS offers the widest geographical coverage, significant savings regarding external IaaS services and lower costs of certification."

The huge software company originating from Germany provides Big Data, integration and business process technologies to customers.

With its Alfabet Cloud and ARIS Cloud product suites -- for IT planning, portfolio management and business process analysis -- already running on AWS, the company said it will move the remainder of its cloud portfolio to Amazon this year.

Being added to AWS will be webMethods Integration Cloud, an integration Platform-as-a-Service (iPaaS) for cloud-to-cloud migrations, and webMethods AgileAppsCloud, a Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) offering for developing situational and case-management apps.

"Today, more than ever before, leading [independent software vendors] are looking for IT solutions that allow them to move quickly, reduce costs, and better serve their customers," said AWS exec Terry Wise. "Software AG is a leading example of an innovative software vendor going all in on AWS to leverage our secure, robust infrastructure platform, and expanding global footprint to build highly differentiated, value-added solutions for their customers."
